How to play WordGOAT
WordGOAT is played by dragging: pick up a tile, drop it on another, and swap until every row makes sense. Three modes, one relaxed pace.
The basics
-
Drag tiles to swap them
Pick up any tile and drop it on another to trade places. When a row comes good, it locks in with a satisfying snap.
-
Make every row one true group
In Sort the Words, fruits belong with fruits and planets with planets. Some boards hide impostor words that belong to no group at all.
-
Unscramble the hidden word
In Spell It Out, the board fights back: tiles locked until you free them, gaps that split a row into two answers, decoy letters that fit nowhere.
-
Pull up the clue list
In Clue Hunt, every answer has a clue, and all the clues sit in one list you can open whenever you like. A hundred levels per language.
The three modes
Written, not translated
WordGOAT ships in English, Persian, Arabic, German and Dutch, and every word list is authored separately in its own language. A word game cannot be translated: the lengths change, the categories change, and what counts as an everyday word changes. Persian and Arabic puzzles read right to left, as they should.
The Daily Challenge
One puzzle, the same for everyone, and it resets at midnight. Solve it to grow your streak and earn bonus hints. There is no streak you can lose by putting your phone down; the daily is a treat, not a chore.
Tips from the goat
-
Not every word belongs. If a tile fits no group, it may be an impostor: be sure enough to leave it behind.
-
Stuck? There are three kinds of help: highlight two matching tiles, reveal a clue, or place one correct letter.
-
Every level carries three stars, and you can replay any of them for a perfect score.
-
Playing in a second language is sneaky good vocabulary practice. Every language has its own puzzles, written from scratch.
That is really all there is to it
The best way to learn is to play a level. The first ones are friendly.
